So I did it. My first mystery shopper. I won't mention the store as it was quite a bad one. Unlucky for me (and him) it was an Asian guy and I'm sure he had all the stereotypical thoughts of wat an Asian will and won't spend on.
No one came to me for 20 mins instant markdown there. Was unable to find anyone willing to serve and when I did he was hands in the pocket kinda thing. Ah well u win some and u lose some. Did he think maybe I was Asian I'd go good on him? He seemed happy enough when I'd walked away. After u tell them ur a mystery shopper his face just dropped though - that was a class moment.
But yeah I loved it and back on to do it all again!!

and its still the same old shit

i havent been blogging much - twittering is the new blogging making it alot easier

course now that i've got an iphone i could in theory retake this up for thoughts bigger than 140 charachters

today's been a funny night i've been sorta taken back a few years thanks to twitter

a link on a link made me catch up with my former haunt known as barficulture. a forum i admittedly was sorta addicted to. it was full of great people to laugh and joke about and i'm sure a few of the jokes were on me.

but it was good whilst it lasted and slowly slipped into the cesspool before the owner decidedly called time on it. its there that i've quit that whole side of things and i'm sorta glad.

whilst i didnt get the shivers nor the cravings i tried a few other forums which have been delightfully awful. desidesi which has seemingly died a death now and asian place is just morbidly unfunny. the great thing about barfi was its multicultural aspect. we all respected each other enough not to reduce it to a slanging match which it was becoming towards the end.

asian place just has this thing where you gotta agree with the whole pakistani muslim persona or get hung out to dry. if your of a different faith then you'll be plugged at slowly. if your a muslim and agree with the afgan war your out on your own. if your a paki and hate pakistan your on the washing line.

since last time i've been hajj and no its not the revelation people expect. i'm sure some people go and are totally humbled as i was by the experience. but for alot its just that. an experience.

i wonder if anyone still checks up on blogs?

I was going to throw in a statistic like 15,000 on december 11th marched against the iraq war - before it happened - a clear sign that people didnt want it...

so i thought yeah i'll google it. i did. so instead of giving you one statistic - Protests against Iraq War has its own Wiki page...

lets average the above. 250,000 people. a quarter of a million people took time out to unite and say we the people do not support this stance against war. i'm sure many more were unable to come. i'm sure many wrote into their local MP's so that they vote no for the war.

October 2002, Obama said "I am not opposed to all wars. I'm opposed to dumb wars" no nothing major there after all who was obama back then?

the Halloween 2002 anti-war protests raged around the world.

feb 2003 marches again all over the world - the biggest of its kind. Listed by the 2004 Guinness Book of Records as the largest protest in human history.

1 in 30 of the population that day protested in the uk.

The diversity of the crowd was one of the most surprising things. it wasnt just the muslims, or the SWP but bog standard general folk. people who probably would be seen last at the rallies. football fans bringin their brothers in arms to come together. housewives, poets, writers, dentists, butchers and likewise.

3 million went to march in Rome, Italy. 150 cities in the USA (100,000 in NY), 70 in canada,

basically, the world marched. the world, its people, of whose governments are so proud that they are indeed democracies, they all marched. people of all communities - not only the usuals but also the unusuals. people who vote left wing who vote right wing and the centre too. they were all there.

yet this was the day democracy failed.

the british govt decided that despite its people not wanting the war, despite the obvious risks of disharmony and chaos, the war was worth it. the evidence was flawed and a million other reasons have been since given by the leaders of that time.

but surely.

the people spoke. the people put them in power to do their bidding. if they say no that surely means no?

and what of protests? is there any meaning behind them anymore? is there a point? no one listens or considers them.

so israel is bombing the crapola outta gaza, and people are protesting (some by throwing their shoes!).

is there a point? who's going to watch and listen?

clearly we were expecting too much for america to say something, britain was going to tow the line and do the whole we need to work on diplomacy thing just as they did during the lebanon crisis. its rather disappointing. saudi couldnt speak even if hamas gave it a lap-dance. egypt are tired of trying to be the hospitable neighbour. iraq's been gagged in its s&m game with usa.

any other countries now are too tired of this constant fight. i think they've thought sod it, how long are we gonna try to help them if they dont want to be helped?

hamas's strikes into israel has really pushed the boat in the other direction. the whole incident is of their own making they should've behaved themselves. no govt in the world can really support gaza and hamas without making it look like they're supporting terrorism.

what is a tragedy is the lack of help israel is allowing into gaza to help the civilians. there simply isnt enough being done to help them. red cross and other charities are clearly struggling to keep anything flowing. no aid nothing.

i guess all we can do is hope that come obama time there'll be more neutrality in america's stance than there is at the moment.

we just been on an over night stay at a rellies house up in hartlepool and its been an eye opener to say the least

the amount of family drama that gets discussed is amazing. so and so did this and then his daughter did that with some next man who promptly dumped her after bedding her.

i was like wtf this happens to people who a somewhat distantly related to me?! amazing.

now a relly is all set to move to london for a girl. lovely? not really. he's declined several moves down to london for bettering his employment chances because he's too chilled out there. now he's hitting 31 and there's no rishta's left for him they've managed to find one from somewhere.

but the clause is hartlepool is too far away from the girls house in london so hence they're quite likely to move down south. things people do for a bit of rep eh?

my dad, god bless his soul, actually thought he was gay as he had refused alot of rishta's after agreeing to them initially.

he wanted to ask his dad aswell if he was gay too. the son - not the dad.

and its not a one off thing. you gotta keep it up again and again and again. it doesnt take just one action

so today at work a father and his two kids, a girl and a boy. they walk over to the xbox 360 games and begin scouring for a game to buy. naturally the kids throw in their own choices, daddy what about this one? oh daddy this one looks good. dad what about this racing one? so on and so forth. so the dad's buying two games and he's busy doing his thing.

and then the girl makes a request. "daddy, can you buy me a remote too so that i can play with you and jake aswell?"

it was said with such a meek voice with the hope it would be accepted.

to me - and this is what it sounded like to me. it was almost as if she was hoping that the father and son activity would become a father, son and daughter thing. almost asking from the father to be given some attention. almost like asking to be given the chance to connect with her father somehow. asking for a way she could spend time with her father doing something they both enjoy.

in a way i can relate to this. its hard for a father to connect with his daughters. especially whilst they're young. the older girls can talk to their fathers and what not. but for a young girl and her father to connect can be quite awkward. it doesnt mean the father loves her any less than if she were a boy but it just means having to be interested in things that normally no guy would.

with mine its a case of maybe interesting them in some things that i do but end of the day free will is free will. and the dolls and the house house games have started to come, so participation sometimes isnt optional. so it can be hard for daughters to get the sorta attention they want from their fathers

its just a shame the reply from the father came as "not today we'll see later on"

i mean at least in the uk... thats all i can speak for.

i was working last night. if you ask the average person - are you christian - alot of the will say yeah. increasingly alot of people are answering i believe in a god, a higher being but i wouldnt say i'm a christian. the other increasingly common answer is the option of athiesm.

but of those that do give christian as an answer. the ones that do say they're christian of them how many are truely christian? go to church, pray and live the whole christian lifestyle etc?

when you talk to people about these things it does feel as if there is a distinct lack of interest in the faith. there's no religious vibe about the day at all. there's no religious meaning anymore. there's no visit to the church in the morning. nothing.

instead its all about saving up for those presents and the bottles of liquor that you only purchase once a year and of course the office party. going out on those special nightouts, making sure enough money is in the bank to last for the binge drinking.

its a shame people have forgotton the whole meaning of christmas. its not even about family, love, xbox 360's, drink or the turkey.

So the fights done and dusted.

the andrenaline was pumping and its all become a blur.

like every incident that happens - everything is disected and analysed - what happened to who and why.

the head doorman comes over. Immy. fucking hell. thanks for that really i mean it. i thought he was gonna get to me then, if you hadnt pulled him down when you did.

ah no probs its my job. then he speaks to a few more people. the bar manager who grabbed the bottle, the other door lads and other bystanders. he finds out that the guy who i took down was about to swing at him with a bottle. Ceryl knows that he wouldnt have been able to defend himself. he was unbalanced and would never have stopped the bottle coming.

it sinks in that i did him a huge favour by doing that. so for the rest of the night its thanks immy again and again. a bottle to head isnt nice normally let alone in a fight.

today i went in. the thanks were still there. i would've been really messed up for christmas if it wasnt for you. turns out he "made" some money last night aswell. dont know how exactly. i think the bar owner gave him extra cash for making sure mad friday was a successful one. thats what he said anyway. so he hands me an envelope with £27.50 in it. All the doormen have got the same i made sure of that and i've got you a christmas card too. wtf?

then steve the bar owner comes up - in his irish accent - alright imran son hows you doing?

i walk away but cant help thinking - this was all to do with last night.

So it was mad friday. the last friday before christmas where workers come out in their droves for those drinks after work.

needless to say drinking from 5pm till 10pm will result in more than just the one person drunk - and with drink comes the red mist. hence mad friday. pure madness.

so working in bolton in a 5 man door-team midway through the night we have a lil fracas. as we're leading this group of lads out one of them kicks off and one of the guys has two bottles. one of the managers tries to take one of them and does. then the head doorman tries to make a grab for the other bottle, but doesnt make it and trips backwards after being pushed. one of the other doormen try to grab hold of the guy but he slips out. at this point i'm behind him and i see him making a move to punch the head doorman...

the next is just a blur, i remember thinking shit he's gonna try to hit cyrl, and i lunged forward grabbing him around the neck and pulling him down. If i'm totally honest i didnt see the bottle. i thought it was a punch. so i've taken him down somehow and i'm ontop, so i'm not too worried about him hitting me, then suddenly out of nowhere a HUGE boot to his face. I'm thinking shit if i keep him pinned down one of them is gonna be on my face. I'm hoping now that the boot that did come in wasnt meant to for me as there'll be another coming pretty soon.

but thing is - keeping someone pinned down is my speciality. putting them in a hold and making sure they dont go anywhere whilst inflicting a lil pain is my thing. sod that.

so i've let him go and we're both slowly getting up and he lashes out at me and misses. i reciprociate the feeling and connect on his face. quickly i'm up on my feet

a few of his friends are pushing the doormen around and i'm the smallest of the 5. the other guys form a wall as do his friends. some of them do sense that if the fight is allowed to continue they're going to be on the losing end.

the guy who's been thrown down and kicked comes around for some more and tries to lash out at me but we see it coming and nothing happens and he's pushed away.

soon the police come and he's led away. the end.

Its been a damned long day. too too long.

its eid. the muslim christmas. time for families to gather and unite in good times. gone are the days where it was £10 to everyone (thats alot of cash going out once you work it out!). its all about gifts and clothing. you gotta shop around to find something appropriate for everyone. christians do it once a year - we gotta do it twice!! its a bit harder though especially with this one being so close to christmas so you gotta compete with the rushes of the people running around.

anyway back to me

the night wasnt easy and the day was just as hard. full houses - not just full - brimming with people.

brimming with so much people to find 5 mins on your own isnt a right. its a priviledge!

no time to take 5 and grab a quick nap despite being kept awake by the new demon arrival. something's gotta settle that stomach of hers so she can have a nice sleep through the night!

just rush here there and everywhere.

not even some peace and quiet when you want to play mariokart. you just want to have some fun on a day off. fun where you can just enjoy the time without worrying about anything. but no - nag nag nag nag - you just want to have a day where we can just get along and have fun.

but to be honest i wouldnt swap it for anything!

there's no denying it

its a hard knock life. especially now with the current recession.

you'd be pretty enclosed not to have noticed the high street quieter than an average day.

yesterday (saturday 6/12) a local gamestation store was meant to have approx £26K in sales, selling the 360 to the gamer geeks and the wii's to the masses of families wanting that great day in. instead it trolled in £7K.

ok it was cold and frosty. when hasnt it been cold in previous years though? it was a new store so not many people were aware of it and maybe the HQ over estimated it too but still. everyone is feeling the pinch. store's are being forced to downsize to smaller units to avoid the extra overheads that arent bringing in the cash.

this definatly is a great time for those that saved. recently i went to look at a new car and almost without playing hardball the dealer was preparing to knock off £2.5K from a £8K vehicle!

this is not even going with the current "hype" of buying one car and getting another free!!

its a crazy world and it takes craziness of another level to stay alive.

i'm not a big fan of cricket

not at all. the 20/20 game seems ok. not great but ok. but this is one of those times when i think cricket is essential. not all over. not here. but the one place that needs it, Mumbai, India.

one of the original tests was to be in Mumbai on december 19th.

this is now cancelled on the fears of safety. i think personally this is quite saddening.

it would've been a great show of support by the english team to go to mumbai and play the game. the message being sent to the terrorists that they will not be phased out by their actions. they should go to the city to show that they are wanting and willing to help them get over this tragedy.

flintoff and co seem to be keen to go to the IPL and get a piece of the millions it has dished out to global superstars of cricket. it would've done them a great deal of good if they were at this time to show solidarity to travel to mumbai and stand side by side with the mumbaites. i'm sure they would've gained the respect of more than enough fans.

still the option to travel to india is still there. yeah i can understand the fact there is a fear the terrorists may choose to strike again, especially with them being the westerners.

england are in a unique opportunity here to do a great thing, even if its just playing cricket. the whole shoulder to shoulder aspect can be done here. lets hope they do see sense and travel.

such a sad state of events over in mumbai at the moment with the terrorists running amok.

i'm sure i'm not the only one who has been glued to the tv regarding this.

with so many dead and so much international outrage there's going to be an incredible fall out as a result of this in the south east asia area. most notably pakistan and how they react. at the moment they're playing ball with the chief of pakistan's secret service going over to assist. but how the long time ball game is played is another question.

whoever is responsible - most likely islamic kashmiri militants. things need to change. they should've changed when they bombed islamabad and their hotel. they know that the prestigious targets such as political figures are unreachable. so now they're going after the soft targets and those soft targets arent military or govermental. they're the innocents going by their lives doing their thing.

for india's sake i hope the thunder that is being asked for to reign upon such groups is quick and conclusive.

I have to pay homage to this show

I simply love it!

The mini-series centers on the experiences of E Company ("Easy Company") of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, United States Army 101st Airborne Division from Easy's basic training at Toccoa, Georgia, through the American airborne landings in Normandy, Operation Market Garden, the Battle of Bastogne and on to the end of the war.

OK historically it may not be perfect but its as good as its gonna get.

the events are based on the writings of survivors and often do take some literary expression but it gels together to make a great show.

bankrolled by spielberg and tom hanks amongst others to the tune of $120m it was shot around the same time as Saving Private Ryan, another movie i love. the gritty shooting style and realism revolutionised all war movies since. not only were the movies changed but world war 2 games were made popular by this and have been ever since. the huge following these ww2 games have had are legendary. the call of duty series is a prime example.

its premier showing achieved viewing figures of 10m in the states and then sadly 9/11 happened and it was lost in oblivion. 7m for the 2nd episode still showed alot clout.

so i'm just gonna end this posting with a few pics and a few links about the real easy company.

religioism and the movies...

religioism. its to be against a religion - i dont wanna use racist, anti-sementic etc

the movies i'm referring to is bollywood. the bastion of indian cinema.

consider this.

in the 70's there were so many roles who's religion wasnt just hindu. the charachters were everything from muslim, hindu, christian and sikh - all positive roles too. the main hero could easily be a muslim and the film would be a hit.

Coolie is one of the biggest proofs of this. the big man of the 70's amitabh bachan plays a muslim, with most of the charachters in the film also muslim. in the climatic end scene he gets shot and a flag bearing the kalima flies infront of him. he approaches the villain whilst saying the kalima showing that he's prepared to die whilst making sure the villain does too. watch the clip - no doubt a VERY powerful scene.

forward a few years to the 90's and all of a sudden muslim charachters almost disappear over-night. the charachters are all raj's, rohan's, dev's, vijay's and of course Rahul. look at the current superstar shah rukh khan's videography, only one of his roles has been a predominantly muslim, Hey Ram where he played Amjad Ali Khan. He's recently managed to squeeze in a few more sikh roles in Veer Zara and Shakti. only in 2006 did aamir khan play a muslim charachter in fanaa. salman khan and saif ali khan still havent played one muslim charachter. None of them have played a christian role. amitabh in the 70's already had 4-5 films as a non-hindu.

what happened in between the 70's and the 90's? the answer lies at the heart of indian politics.

The BJP, the Bharatiya Janata Party.

formed in the early 80's it quickly rose to prominence. in the aftermath of Ayodhya, muslims were public enemy no.1 in india. increasing right wing politics of a pro-hindu nature futher enforced this and isolated the muslim community. one of their main party ethics was The Construction of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya. it was the classic case of if your not with us your against us. and the population logistics simply fell into place. the BJP began exerting its influence on bollywood who was still shaken from Amitabhs poor political performance for a rival party.
on screen the kumars, khanna's and the khans, all played up hindu roles, positive hero stuff. whilst alot of the villains in general were over-blown mr big's who had names like john and tommy and a super-bitch called helen on the side of them who they always called daaarling. if they werent mr big then it was the grimey muslim thug who lived in the shanty and was called something bhai and HAD to wear a skull cap.

the fact so many indian film stars are joining the BJP rather than other parties highlights the role it plays in bollywood. the likes of vinod khanna and southern superstar rajnikanath all looking to enter or are in the party. vinod actually moving up in the party heirarchy.

the sikhs for a while had the worst. reduced to comical sidekicks for a long long time. even now some films will feature them as the inept friend to the hero. a fat greedy bumbling sikh guy with a pagh. only recently have there been a few positive sikh roles, mostly though with a military angle showin them as the brave soliders. sikhs have always been known for their military bravado. alot of the sikh roles were taken off due to 1984 and the fall out has been happening ever since.

but aside from that the religioism continues. back in the 70's the titles would appear on screen first the english spelling, then the hindi and finally urdu. the urdu text has all but disappeared now. the last film to have one was Om Shaanti Om made by farah khan but aside from that its virtually gone.

its gonna be some time - if positive sikh charachters are coming back then perhaps there is hope for the muslims ones though the christian roles will take some time yet due to the sectarian violence in india.

EDIT: just a lil addition to some more info i found from the net...

He has played the role of Muslims in so many films and spoken the chaste Urdu dialogues penned by Salim Javed. But now he is speaking shuddha Hindi, which I have no reason to oppose or dislike. But it seems he chooses each word so that no Urdu word gets into his speech.

i know chelsea owner roman is rich but rich enough to leave coins on the pitch for players to randomly throw at fans?

i'm not a big fan of drogba but i gotta stick up for him this time around...

its not as if he's aimed a throw and baseball thrown it. and if you look at all the pics of the throw - look at the hate from the burnley fans... is it right that they should throw it in the first place? you cant have a camera on every supporter like you do on every player.

the level of abuse comin from fans these days - from a select group - is just excessive.

a sad show of what our society has become? the failings of a council? the failing of the system designed to protect children like baby p? or is it now just become a political numbers game?

it turned political yesterday (weds) when the enchanting obama-like *he wishes* leader of the opposition david cameron urged the govt to intervene in the enquiry into the failings of the council which was being conducted by the council themselves. "nobody is taking responsibility, nobody has resigned" and added of the woman in charge of the review: "She cannot possibly investigate the failure of her own department."

The row was prompted by the PM accusing the Tory leader of "making a party political issue" of it.

so is there a reason to make it a bigger issue? i think so.

its scary that this is the very same council who was involved in the massive faliures of the Victoria Climbie case. It was shocking how the council closed itself in to avoid being labelled as the cause faliure in that case and one feels this is what is happening again. the internal enquiry is not needed when it is that very department that has repeatedly failed especially after being highlight in such a high profile case.

a public enquiry like the laming report is required. accusations of racist failings littered the climibie case but there's no excuse for this. excuses were made that climbie's timidness was maybe a show of respect of her african elders but this time?

everyone at Haringey council is sorry for what has happened. sorry just isnt enough.

its easy for an immigrant like myself to whiff past this past week's remembrance services. all this talk of casualties in world war 1 and 2 can seem a lil distant to someone who doesnt have a link to these events

alot of the people would've had grand-dad's who would've fought in the wars atleast some family member would have. then an immigrant comes in the 70's and the recovery is happening and not many people like talkin about the war...

The Commonwealth Graves Commission is an excellent resource for anyone trying to trace a long lost family member who died

so i went there and its quite a good resource - so i thought lets see if there were any asian who fought for the british in europe as opposed to the far east where the indian army was quite active.

two stories which i'm sure to someone mean something. but it just goes to show it wasnt just "whites" that fought. it wasnt just the natives but also many of our forefathers and beyond who have fought alongside the British.

ok ok hear me out yeah? forget the tony blair aged 10 of his premiership. - look at the tony blair age 0.

when he came on the scene - how sick were brits of the conservatives? even though it was john major that was in charge alot of the crap he carried was from the thatcher era. reports of corruption and were just coming out of the first gulf war.

the conservative's election campaign lacked direction whereas labour were easily targetting the weak points and in their young energetic leader they found a great focal point.

Tony blair had made a rapid rise within the party, a qualified barrister.

Blair trounced Major in the election. it was a new day. britain woke up the next day with great hope. their charismatic new leader would lead britain back to the promised land.

the youthfulness, the appeal to the centre, the whole new start new change, the bringing britain back to the front of the international scene, the man who promised to do right, a father to a young family but here's the one thing that makes me think obama is a page out of the blairite book of politics.

spreading the wealth.

whilst tony never used the phrase to such prominence he executed to brilliant effect. such brilliance that the conservatives didnt even realise it was happening till it had happened. like the republicans they were keen on people making it for themselves, but blair wrong-footed their poorly led party and did everything to great usage.

the introduction of the national minimum wage, passed in 1999, was set at £3.50 ph for adults and by the time he left his tenure it was £5.50, around 1.5/2 million people benefitted from this.

One of the first things Blair did was to give the bank of england independance to set the rate of interest. something obama will have to look at closely, but back then helped the british economy a great deal.

He knew he had to sit down and talk to IRA to end the troubles, something obama will have to and has said he will do with Iran and other groups within Iraq.

he put in legislation to aid gay and lesbian rights, which i'm sure obama will do especially in california with constitution 8.

Blairs finest hour internationally was without a doubt during the Kosovo war and the role he and Great britain played. the prominence and his international diplomacy to encourage NATO and others to intervene saved many lives no doubt. sadly this international praise he received gave him the taste for international intervention that played greatly in the 2nd half of his premiership to such bad effect.

obama should look somewhat towards Blair and see how he did things and realise which way the lie of the land is.

Blair was exceptional at surrounding himself with the right people. Peter Mandelson, Alaister Darling amongst others was the thing he needed so that his own back was watched at all times. one only has to look at the way he advised the royal family during the death of diana, just exactly how media savvy he and his team was. the respect the media gave him was highlighted by the fact no paper reported an alleged family problem in 2004.

his legacy would have been something of greatness had it not been for the iraq war which like bush will dog him for years to come. just his mere presence in singapore gave london the olympics in 2012, his internation reputation doing its work.

his unpopularity got so bad that its forever tainted those that lined up with him. blair's ten year legacy as good as it could've been will forever been tainted by this. the french who chose not to align themselves with them have seen their world status raised.

yeah thats right i said it... i went there i did it...

a muslim man is suing tesco for making him allegedly work with alcohol.

he apparently had no idea that tesco sold alcohol. he worked with them for 8 months and had no idea they sold alcohol. he worked at a distribution depot and didnt see the huge crates labelled beer.

so now he's out there in the tribunals working his way to a compensation package for religious discrimination.

he'd managed to visit asda, lidl and sainsbury's, but not tesco. and i doubt he had any reservation buying food from a place that sold alcohol.

he apparently asked to be removed from this and be placed with other duties - your wage would still have come from a company that sold alcohol.

i raised this question before - how possible is it to earn a true halal income in the west? yeah there are jobs where you can. but for example - taxi drivers. you take people a to b but then if the people are going to a nightclub/bar your making it possible for them to go there and sin. you know they're going there for that reason at 11pm. its been openly debated in mosques all over. you open a shop selling grocery foods, and unless you've read every single ingrediant, checked every label its impossible to say wether the stuff your selling is halal. and similary if you work at asda/tesco/sainsbury's you might be stacking those cans of tuna on the isle's but your wages do come from alcohol. thats the appeal to some people, go in - get the bread, get the biscuits and grab a case of beer, and if that beer wasnt there chances are they would go else where.

i hope the tribunal do throw this case out. there should be religious awareness at work. the cross wearing woman at heathrow should never have been dragged up. but taking the piss isnt religious awareness.

The story is that a scientist invents a watch allowing a person to disappear - later he is killed but he hides the watch. later through fateful circumstances his son is able to retreive the watch and decides to use it for the greater good, whilst at the same time looking after a group of orphans. yeah i did say corny.
Enter mr mogambo and he wants that for-moo-la for his world domination and destruction of india and its upto our hero and the damsel in distress Sri-Devi to save the day!

its a very basic james bond/supervillain story line but its effects are still there.

alot of villains in bollywood try to mimic mogambo. shekar kapur went on to make elizabeth, elizabeth the golden age and the forthcoming New york, I love you.

the nights over they've staggered out - barefooted and walking down the street - crossing the roads and what not and its just ewww. its even worse if its been raining and the streets are all wet - but you think thats gonna stop them?!

So i'm working at the club and i see 3 asian guys laughing away and pointing at another guy - a white bloke who was busy getting it on with a girl.
turns out he's their mate and they're just laughing cause they're guys and they're trying to distract him from the job at hand

so i'm standin there and i get talkin to one of them - they're all students from the local uni and there's 4 of them here. the other two come over and they start having a laugh and joke and then one of them comments on how its always him - the guy who's got the girl that pulls.

it got me thinking - how come its the white guy that always pulls?

but then would it would be the same if it was 3 white guys with an asian guy at an asian night?

so in a way is everyone racist on some level?

whats this big epic battle i'm ready to join in?

the reduction and eventual removal of speed camera's. they're totally useless - a stealth tax on the motorist.

lets be honest - we all do it - as soon as we see that yellow box we slow down to 30/40/50 watch the lines go by and then speed up again. it doesnt make anyone slow down long term.

now with all the snoopers etc its quite hard to get caught if your wary about such things

but last night swindon council voted to stop all funding for the police camera's instead deciding to fund other safety measures that can be bought.

Apparently deaths have been rising in swindon and the council has decided rather than spend the money on funding speed camera's in the locality to the tune of £320,000 per year

"The Department for Transport annual results - published on the 25th of September - show that, nationally, only 6% of accidents are caused by people breaking speed limits and yet almost 100% of the government's road safety money is being invested in speed cameras,"

thats an alarming statistic that the govt arent tackling the problem where it is. its not speed that kills - its careless drivers. someone doing 30 whilst driving without attention is much more dangerous than someone driving 80 at 4am on a quiet motorway.

though the chances of getting caught speeding have gone down in swindon they're still there. the council may give more permission to use mobile speed camera's operated by the police.

younger drivers should be tested more often. just by passing one test should not be enough. i can vouch for that! i had a driving incident about 4 times in the first two three years and since then only one accident which was due to me not paying attention to the road but instead trying to find a wholesaler i was going to.

here's one final statistic for you. speed camera's roughly raise £114m in fines. safety prevention measures are coming in at £120m

so in theory the govt are only investing £6m of their own cash to increase safety on the roads

but thats just career. the temptation for other thangs is alot and you cant help but wonder how would it be if i had that instead of this.

change is inevitable as are losses. as a hero of mine says it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.

i have to admit i'm a bit partial to spurs, the british soccer club.

a few of their former players a amongst my favourites. Gary Lineker, Paul Gascoine and chris waddle. not to mention the likes of Osvaldo ardiles jurgen klinnsmann etc...

they've got a fantastic history - especially in the cup competitions. FA Cup winners 8 times.

in the league its a different story - last time they won the top league was during the 60/61 season.

and this season its no better. a recent columist on a spurs board commented how commiting suicide was less painful than watching them play!

It could not get worse for them as they lost to Hull City away on the 5th October. They are now seven games without a win with only two points.

this was the season. this was it. top four would become top 5. yeah they lost a few of their players to other clubs but they spent too. and now of course they had the great one there. not jose but juande ramos.

after the sacking of Jol, spurs need to give this guy some time - no doubt they'll get out of the relegation zone but things need to get going the right way soon. in this financially driven world of football where the money of the european football is king a lack of it means pressure of enormous means.

still it wouldnt surprise me come next weekend they're looking for another manager. the boo's have started and i'm sure the chairman is getting itchy at the thought that bank balance lookin slim line.

fans are quick to forget the cup run of last season where the messiah had been labelled.

Its a funny thing is motivation

sometimes the most mundane thing can motivate people to do an endless task.

like beer getting guys to motivate them to build a pyramid from a card pack. like feeling the need to impress a parent makes a child push themselves at school. like trying to gain acceptence from your peers makes you start to smoke. like the green of the paper makes you get out of bed even if you hate tony who sits next to you. thats motivation.

everyone needs it. even those that say they dont. its different from one person to another but its there.

what are the motivations in my life? if i'm totally honest...

the need for acceptance from my parents drives me on at work. the smile on my kids face when they eat something i've bought for them - a lil treat. the shaking of my wife's head knowing i've bought another useless thing i'll use for 5 mins.

what motivates me to carry on this blog?

some hope that it'll be super-popular and people from obama to musharaff will be quoting me?

that i'll be getting so many hits google advertising will fall at my feet with promises of millions?

maybe its the hope that i will bring peace and organised religion to the masses in china?

so the VP debate is over with it was really good.

why the hell they dont do these things in the uk is beyond me. this was a real good ol slugfest.

palin was alot better than most expected and that sorta negated anything biden could say or do. everyone was waiting for a royal eff up and it never came. she wasnt fantastic but she wasnt exactly poor. biden had to be top game to stand against that. and he was.

i think for that sake they should hold another debate - this time everyone will know that palin wont mess up. so they'd be expecting answers on par with biden.

it was poor of her to constantly not answer the questions... so gov palin what colour is the sky? well what i'd like to go back to is alaska for a second... gov palin where is the white house? i think the main issue here is that mccain is a maverick. gov palin did you just piss of the extremists in pakistan? what we need to see here is the bigger picture here this isnt bush we're talking about.

but tis all good. shame we wont be seeing her much more either as the mccain camp dont want her doing too many interviews. she was given a lightweight like couric and she still complained she was being nailed.

Ok

here's the scene. you've got your freedom. your 18. its university time and being the freedom seeker you are you go away from home. close enough to commute yet far enough to validate a room at the student halls. finally you can do your own thing, drink as much as you can and party 24/7 with who ever you want.

Your out and about in this new city. Enjoying the sights and sounds. Come on Pav lets go to Bar Label. so you saunter off with the crew in tow - slightly giddy as the drinks been flowing all evening.

Theres a small queue to the enterance, the door staff are checking for ID's... so you take your driving licence out and you wait. as the crowd clears you see a horrifying sight. it cant be. you left your town because of this. the heart sinks faster than bush's opinion polls. the doorman. no please no. please god dont let it be. but you cant be sure. not 100%. the most horrifying thought to an asian. do you know me?

its not bad when your 100% that way you can go over and do damage limitation. you can go over chat to them and think yeah its cool. he's here and i'm here we've had a chat we've got some mutual understanding goin on. ok i'm a lil tipsy but hey he's working at the club too.

but when your not 101% thats when its rabbits in the headlights. you dont want to go over and make yourself known. if he is the person you think he is then your damned. you've just made it known that so and so's daughter/son is in such a place drunk and with members of the opposite sex at 12am. with this scenario your even more damned as your not on a level with this person so smooth things over.

but you cant leave things as it is - your dreading the next few days. your thinking if that person was so and so then the next time you see him - he might mention it or hint at it. if its gonna be someone you aint gonna see for time - then your just thinking please let him forget...

so this happened to me tonight. i'm pretty sure i know who she was, due to be engaged to a distant relative of mine. the worst thing was when it came to ID checking the other doorman got her so i wasnt able to confirm 101% if it was who i thought it was.

I probably wont mention it... but come on i wouldnt be me if i didnt torture the other person a lil...

Students

they have it easy. i mean come on. i was working tonight and it was the first weekend of them arriving - so like little lambs they huddled together doing the whole pub crawl. downing as many pints as they can cause all their mates are and thats the tradition for students - get drunk on the grant cheque and live in squalor.

and the uni's almost encourage this. they allow societies to advertise their pub crawls and get the student unions to put the beer at an insanely cheap price. its all a kosher life isnt it?

but then 2am hits. that crawl you've been on where you have to drink at least 2 pints at the 5 different bars you've been to is beginning to take effect. they're staggering all over in a city they're not too familiar with, somehow they've lost their friends but they've still got their wallet and their phone and the keys - thats it! its all kosher isnt it? you got money to get back to your flat, mobile to call your mates to see where they are and the keys to get into bed.

only they dont quite tell the lambs straight from mummy and daddys nest that there's bad people around. people who do nothing more than sit around and look for that drunken guy/girl. so that they can go upto them and ask them for a cigarette just to see how drunk a person is. when the poor student passes the test they act the kind stranger, we'll help you in the right direction. and then bham... its too late. they've taken your phone that you were waving about. if you were stupid enough to get your wallet out that'll be a few notes short too.

i can understand the fact that they're new students, having lived at home this is a new environment. living alone it feels great - do what you want to do no one to tell u off. but come on use a little common sense!

no city wants to promote itself in a negative way. but uni's and local halls need to start doing the right thing and educating them on going at night time safely.

we had one international student from india in. all nice and greasy hair wearin the foam strap slippers, nice weakling walking around at 11pm with a brand new laptop clearly on show. No laptop case, no put it in a bag. the sony sign clearly showing. the battery light flickering away. i really was about to run off with it myself if to show him how stupid he is.

its common knowledge to the locals that thieves target these lambs for slaughter during the first few weeks of uni. but the worrying fact is the uni doesnt really inform the students of their own safety, sober or drunk. how many students will go to one police officer and talk to him during these few weeks?

Why do people have such an issue with the above?

Either they hate the people with it or they go crazy when they're given it.

You can never find a good inbetween. Cops - notoriously on a perma-trip. A few guys messing about with each other last night and out pulls a under-cover police car and they begin searching them. All this stuff about them wanting to fight crime is rubbish. they have only ever turned up once a crime is done and dusted. they're more crime investigation than crime prevention. so they catch a lucky break once a while but in truth they've fully isolated themselves from society. the criminals didnt want to know them in the first place and now good honest citizens are turning their backs on them too.

increasingly they choose to go for the statistics to make them look good rather than going after people they know are doing the crime. we all know so and so is a well known drug dealer, that so and so sells stolen items but for the sake of due process they are left alone.

admins. they also get the power trip award. very rarely do you get admins on message boards who allow something to flow. you'll be having a nice debate about something - maybe controversial but nothing will be offensive. then all of a sudden ugghhhhhhh i'm an admin this is not acceptable. delete delete delete warning warning warning.

people sometimes need to chill out and let things just flow. stop being so big brother, we dont need supervision. we just want to live - dont want to bug anyone else dont want to rob anyone.

At what point do we stop educating people?

not kids - but people, adults, fully grown.

Some people are just so ignorant its shocking. A woman in a full niqab set-up walked past the bar i was doing security at, a local hoodie who was drinking there came up "hey yo, bro, your muslim arent you?" yeah why? "well can i ask you something that dress she's wearing. why she wearing it? cause i heard that the man makes her wear it like her husband or boyfriend." no no mate its islamic. a woman in islam is meant to be covered from head to toe and that is what they use to do that. "but mate i know plenty of asian girls they dont" some girls are religious and some arent. its a choice thing.

so he carried on and on - then i walked away leaving him talkin to my protestant collegue who was still trying to get through to him that it was a religious choice. some people who strictly observe religion will wear it and those that arent strict wont. "but you know what i still think its her man that makes her wear it. if it was me i'd be like yo check this i've got a fit wife. you might want her but she's mine"

my collegue again pointed out that its for that reason - to stop the sin of lust she wears that. "na man thats just wrong. i can understand if she wore it in afganistan pakistan or iraq but she can wear what she wants in the uk"

cue the head slamming into the table motion.

some people just are incredibly ignorant. kudos for actually asking but whats the point of asking if your not actually going to listen and learn from the answer.

no doubt he went away none the wiser and one day he's going to go to a girl wearin a niqab and ask her the same question. or worse still. actually take it off and find its actually a ninja.

sometimes we all have to accept that there will be people that no matter how much you talk to them, how much you explain to them - they still wont understand.

A big hello from the small basement

Wahay!
My first blog. i'm not actually gonnna give the link to anyone till i've reached 3/4 blogs. That way they'll know what kinda blog it will be and actually check it again and again. People make a mistake of trying to promote it when its one two day old but you need to do it a few weeks before there's anything of any decent substance. plus by then you know if your gonna stick at it. chances are no one will ever read this.

So democracy. Dont know about you guys but when i think of that i think America. probably the most shady country in the world where the word conspiracy has enough followers to. But in all honesty I think alot of people are jealous of America. Not everything but somethings.

The elections. In the uk we have a general election and it lasts two weeks including the promo. In the US its goin past a year!! ok it feels like it with all the announcing of the candidates - Obama announced his in 02/2007!
But its all great. the HUGE hype that surrounds it is amazing. Everyone picks on every little word, action, movement the candidates make.

Like today Sarah Palin's personal Yahoo email was hacked, which is a shame partially cause it does show how ill-prepared she was for this, how "normal" she was leading her life. Never would you expect Joe Biden or any other senior candidate to use a Yahoo email for business and personal reasons. Also, if they did, the password would've been alot more difficult to hack than just the postcode of Palin's home address. She's been so inadquetly prepared for the hype and the responsibility - its showing how out of depth she is.

They can prepare her for as many lightweight interviews possible but even then last week she failed to show what the bush doctrine was. Gibson had to explain it to her. No doubt her first of many deer-infront-of-headlights moment with many more to come. I'm sure she'll make a great Republican one day, but this, now, is bordering on cruelty. All her family affairs scrutinised to such a degree that they're blatantly not ready. The daughter that was pregnant and is now "marrying" the fella. COME ON WHY ISNT ANYONE CRYING FORCED MARRIAGE OUT?!

I still cant understand the judgement of asking Palin to be the number 2. It clearly wasnt just to get the disenchanted Hillary supporters to come over. The only thing I can maybe consider is maybe McCain thought she'll be scandal free, a fresh face something new.
